One of the goals at Al-Hamra Academy is for each student to develop a love for and an understanding of God and Islam. Integrated into our curriculum and throughout our daily routine, we help our students to know, understand, and practice the beliefs, etiquettes and basic principles of Islam. We strive to nurture the young minds to be mindful of their faith and understand their role in the society at large. Our structured curriculum is designed to educate students to lead a pious life, to respect others, and develop their identity as Muslim Americans.
Arabic is taught daily with emphasis on speaking, reading, writing and understanding to effectively grasp the meaning of the Qur'an. Arabic classes in elementary and middle school are divided into differentiated levels and students are placed according to their ability.

Al-Hamra Academy is for students seeking balance between their religious and cultural identity, and preparation for a bright future outside the classroom. As well as students of any faith looking for an academic foundation centered around strong morals and ethics.
Curriculum
The curricula for Qur'an Arabic and Islamic Studies are devised carefully by the experienced and dedicated staff at Al-Hamra Academy. Foreign language standards are slightly modified from those presented by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) to facilitate the development of reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and vocabulary skills in Arabic. Religion and Qur’an standards have been developed under the advisory of industry veterans and experts.
In Qur'an classes students learn to read the Qur'an with tajweed, as well as memorize and understand the selected verses. Students work at their own pace, however our goal is that each student will memorize and understand at least 2 Juz by the time they graduate from the Academy in Grade 8, insha Allah.
Islamic Studies is not only a subject taught daily, but it is also integrated throughout all other courses taught here at the Academy. Our daily curriculum teaches students the tenets of the faith and ways to apply Islam in their daily life. At each grade level, students focus on a topic that they can understand and eventually internalize the information presented. At different times during the year, the Five Pillars of Islam are focused on allowing students to comprehend them in their daily lives.
Qur'an, Arabic, and Islamic Studies at Every Grade Level
In Pre-School/Pre-Kindergarten, Qur'an and Islamic Studies are integrated with sing-a-long, love for Allah (swt)'s Creation, and manners. Elementary Students are engaged with dialogue, songs, al-Qaeda Nuraniyah and reading stories. With Middle School Islamic Studies, students examine Seerah of the Prophet (sws), connecting stories from the past with modern issues and relevancy.
Inside the classroom for Level 1 Arabic, mostly Arabic is spoken, engaging students in dialogue, increasing fluency in Qur'an and reading aloud, pronunciation, and handwriting. Students also do in-class presentations to build confidence. For Arabic, Middle School Students dialogue in the classroom is mostly conducted in Arabic, engaging students with spoken, written and online research and soft publishing (using Technology Lab) exercises.
