Al-Hamra Academy students have done it again, Alhamdulillah!
This year, the middle school students entered the 2012 Letters about Literature Writing Contest. Massachusetts ranked fourth in the nation this year in the number of
letters submitted. In level I (grades 4-6), over 1500 letters were submitted in the state. Those letters went through several elimination rounds. Of the letters we
submitted, two were advanced to Round 2 and both of them were advanced to the state semi-finalists round.
We are happy to announce that Yusra Syed, grade 6, is a Massachusetts semi-finalist for her letter to Sharon Draper about the novel Out of My Mind.
We are also pleased to announce that Muhammad Salah, also grade 6, is an Honors award winner this year for his letter to Lemony Snicket regarding The Series of Unfortunate Events. Muhammad and his family and teacher will be invited to the State House for the awards ceremony on Friday May 18th.
We are very proud of both students’ accomplishments. Congratulations to them and their families.
